The latest Canadian Press/Harris Decima survey asked about federal funding of the CBC

• Nationally, 46% of respondents feel funding for the CBC should stay at the current level. Those remaining are divided on whether funding for the CBC should be increased or decreased. Just over one in five (22%) feel funding should be cut, including 12% who feel it should be eliminated altogether. The remaining 23% feel funding for the CBC should be increased.
• Those who want funding to the CBC decreased, or eliminated entirely, are more likely to be Conservative supporters, men, those over the age of 50, and living in Alberta.
• Atlantic Canadians, New Democrats, and those with household incomes exceeding $100k/year are more likely to want funding of the CBC to be increased.

In August, the index stood at 77.5, down from the 83.7 recorded in the last quarter. Despite the decline, one-in-four Canadians feel they will be better off financially a year from now – the same number as three months ago. Meanwhile, in the US, consumer sentiment fell even further, dropping to 55.7.
